Ely continued their good away form by taking all three points at the West End Ground on Saturday
Ely opened the scoring mid way through the first half when Ryan Lane got behind the home sides defence and smashed a ball into a crowded area which took a deflection off a defender and into the net. The home side leveled the game up just before half time when a clumsy tackle in our own box resulted in a penatly that they converted.
The second half was very physical with no football played, but the Ely side never gave in and were rewarded when a ball was played into the box and young Tom Thulborn who had just came on to make his senior debut produced a neat finish to put his side 2-1 up.
Manager Alan Alsop commented afterwards that it was not a great performance, but his side stuck at it and claimed the three points . We are growing up slowly he remarked
