Match Report:Ely City Reserves 5 Haverhill Borough Reserves 2

The Robins dominated for most of the game without putting the away side out of sight towards the end of the game.

Charlie McManus scored a clever header in the six yard box from a corner in the 25th minute, but that old saying do not lose focus when you have just scored happened and Borough from the restart equalised with a ball over the top which was not defending properly.

Top scorer Luke Mansfield put his side back in front just before the break with a blistering finish

Ely started on the front foot in the 2nd half and it was Mansfield again who finished off a good through ball from Tom Thulborn to make it 3-1. Again for all of their dominance the home side started to get complacence and took their foot of the pedal.

James Skillen who had replaced Carson Silvain at half time had a good run down the right in the 70th minute and when his cross found Tom Thulborn ,Skillen followed up Thulborn's header to tap the ball over the line

Disappointingly five minutes later a ball of over the top was not dealt with by Joe Brannan firstly and then Rhys Mazey's who had just replaced Charlie Tunnell and he under hit his back pass and Borough got one back. A couple of minutes later Borough got in again, but Jordan Mitchell was on hand to make the save .

The Robins put the game to bed in the last minute when a Borough mistake this time played in Tom Thulborn to make it 5-2

Manager Andrew Lee commented that there was so many pleasing things about the performance, but I am disappointed at the two goals we gave away.
