A Ryan Williams double sent his side through to the next round of the William Cockell Memorial Cup. Williams who has been out for most of the season with a knee injury struck in each half to maintain the second strings unbeaten record so far this season.
The home side started the brighter and took the lead in the 15th minute with a well taken goal.
Williams got his first ten minutes later when after a good move he found himself on the right hand side and firmly drilled the ball past the home keeper.
The Robins high tempo pressing game was not evident in the first period, but clearly came out in the second half with more purpose and took control of the game with chances falling to Tom Thulborn and Luke Mansfield without the end product.
Williams got his second in the 70th minute when a cross field ball by Rhys Mazey found Williams in the box and his instant touch and control enabled him to fire home. The Robins should have been 3-1 up shortly afterwards when Luke Mansfield clearly came from behind a defender to round the keeper and slot home. While the away side were celebrating a late flag and a quick chat to the assistant linesman by referee deemed that Mansfield was offside.
Soham tried to rally to find an equaliser but the Robins managed the rest of the game well and take their place in the next round
