Match Report Comberton United 1 Ely City Reserves 1

The Robins 2nd string claimed a point against third place Comberton United with what was for sure a game of two half's.

The first half was almost dominated by the home side and took the lead early on. They always looked dangerous in the final third as the Ely side lacked any commitment and showed little signs of quality. This was not helped when firstly Tom Blatch and then Kierian O'Neil no longer took any part in the game due to substantiating ankle and facial injuries .

Manager Alan Alsop was keen to get them in the dressing room at half time and when they came out it was like a different Ely side. While Comberton threaten in the final third it was Daniel Jeffrey who scored his first goal of the season in the 65th minute to level the game.

A lovely pin point ball into the home penalty box to advancing Jeffrey by Jamie Simper was firstly well controlled by Jeffrey with his right foot and then with his left smashed the ball into the top left hand corner.

Another injury to a Robins player Andrew George (this time a back injury) meant that Alsop had no other players to bring on. Although Comberton hit the bar twice they could not find a way through and the Robins held on to a hard earned point
