Robins Reserves took all three points with a last minute header from Luke Fretwell.
With Joe Brannan,Luke Fretwell and Andy George coming into the start line-up and George Raynor and Precious Oluka taking up the bench it looked a strong side the Robins put out.
On a bobbley pitch and against an experience physical side it was never going to be easier to play football ,but the home side did try at times and unfortunately for the Under 18s Youth Team captain Joe Brannan in attempting to play his side out from the back gave the ball away and the away side went ahead after 15 minutes
The home side responded well and equalised 10 minutes later when a scramble in the box was finallyy put over the line by James Skillen although fellow striker Andy George felt he had the last touch..
The rest of the half was very scrappy and poor decision making and not retaining possession from the home side was evident.
The second half started brightly with with Tom Thulborn starting to become more of a threat in between the front two and midfield. Kierian O'Neil started to get a foothold on the game Ely took the lead in the 60th minute when James Skillen was fouled in the box by the away keeper and Andy George calmly stepped up to make it 2-1.
Ely had some half chances to increase their lead and while the away side never really threatened while there was only one goal in it the game was never safe. This proved to be the case when in the 82th minute the away side seemed to have an overload at the far post and although keeper Will Beach saved the first effort he could not prevent the second from hitting the back of the net.
The away side then looked more likely to score, but in the last minute of the ninety a George Raynor free kick found a towering Luke Fretwell powered his header home to give his side all three points
Not the best performance from the home side by a long shot with to many long balls, lack of communication at times and poor decision making, but what they did was worked hard and never gave up
