Reserves win first league match of the season
Brady Stone's reign as Ely City Reserves Manager started with a 1-0 win over Hundon in their first Kershaw Senior A league match on Wednesday night.
Hundon were undone by an early 2nd half goal by Ritchie Murfit.
I missed a fair bit of the first 15mins due to manning the gate but ely keeper quinton young made a good save from a corner, this was followed by some good robins pressure but their were no breakthroughs up to the break.
Early in the 2nd half livewire Richie Murfitt lobbed the Hundon keeper from a tight angle to give the Robins the lead. A clash of heads by opposing players didn't turn out to be serious and both players resumed battle.
Young made a good save at full stretch followed by a long range Hundon shot that went wide. Ritchie Murfit shot over the bar from a volley. Good work by Liam Bishop forced a corner which was headed over by Luke Fretwell.
Hundon had the last attack of the game which was cleared by the robins defence.
