Club Update:
❗️As the season draws to a close, the club can confirm that Chris Hancock will step down from his role as Reserves Manager after nearly five years in charge. Chris informed the committee of his decision a couple of months ago, but choosing to keep full focus on his squad during a crucial run-in that included both cup and league commitments.
❤️ A full tribute recognising Chris’s significant contribution to Ely City Football Club will follow in the coming week.
✍️ With succession planning already in place, the club is pleased to announce the appointment of Paul Dawson ahead of the new season. Paul joins from his role as Ely City Youth U9s coach and, more recently, as manager of Newmarket Town U18s, ensuring a smooth and seamless transition within the club’s footballing structure.
? Paul shared his thoughts with the Media Team following his appointment:
?️“Firstly, I’d like to thank Guy and the committee members for allowing me this fantastic opportunity - continuing my coaching career from youth into senior football.
I started coaching here at Ely City over 10 years ago now and have helped to develop players and build teams from mini soccer to EJA, onto Thurlow Nunn U18’s.
I’m taking over a talented squad here, whom under previous management have had not only great cup success but competed strongly in the league, finishing in the top five for several years running.
I will be doing my utmost to not only replicate this consistency but do so playing a style of football that the players and supporters will enjoy.
I played in the Kershaw Prem for over 10 years so I’m fully aware of how tough it can be.
I am fully committed and looking forward to preparations with the lads for the new season ahead.”
? Chris’s last game will be at home, under the lights next Tuesday 5th May at the Demcom.
