Another battling display by the Ressie Robins, but another late goal, this time from ex Robin Luke Mansfield took the points away from the Demcom.
The two old foes are both in transition this season and both showed glimpses of their new teams styles of plays. Wratting started with possession and looked solid, as Ely also remained compact.
Early chances were at a limit, but Vinnie Tromebetta shot just wide, before Wratting forced Hugo Rosetti in the Robins goal into a smart stop. Ely started to work combinations down the right hand side, as Jev Cook and Ben Charway came close to breaking down the Wratting defence.
But Wratting took the lead early on, with a corner causing havoc and although Roseeta attmped to block, the ball was poked in through a crowd of players for 1-0.
HT: Ely City Res 0 - 1 West Wratting
Second half was much the same, tight and mainly played in the middle, Harrison Donnelly carried an early threat for Ely as the game opened up and Trombetta thought he'd won a penalty after he was bundled to the ground, A stop start game was increased by the referee as the game got untidy, before Liam Powell grabbed an equaliser on 75 minutes. In off the left, his first effort was sliced and blocked before he poked in the rebound at the near post. A deserved equaliser for the Robins, but 10 minutes later, ex Red Luke Mansfield popped up in the 6 yard box to turn a cross home to deny the Reds another point in what was another hard working performance where they will feel they deserved something.
