Robins looking to improve FA Cup form

Brady Stone takes his troops into Bedfordshire tomorrow to play arguably which will be one of the most important games of the season. All Non-League clubs look forward to the draw of the Extra Preliminary Round and the chance of taking home some much needed funds into their bank accounts.

The winners of the game at Hutchinson Hollow home of Potton United will earn £2,250 and the chance in the next round to improve on that.

Both sides have had mixed fortunes at the start of the season with both of them having played two league games . Potton have lost both of their opening games while the Robins sit currently third in the league due to wins against Gorleston and Mildenhall Town. Potton finished seventh in the Spartan Midlands Premier League last season so are no push overs.

Manager Brady Stone is under no illusion that despite the good start the Robins will be in for a tough afternoon and will need to show the same organisation and ability when in possession to try and reach the Preliminary Round for the first time season 2012/13 when the side beat Rothwell Corinthians 7-1 only to go out in the next round.

Steve Holder (blisters) and Matty Simpson (gash knee) are both expected to be fit while the big doubt is new signing Ryan Harnwell with a hamstring problem.

The clubs historian Simon Barlow was put on the spot this afternoon when asked if the clubs had met before and without checking his records he recalls the two sides meeting once in the FA Cup with the Robins winning 2-0. He also recalls the two sides meeting in the Central Alliance League in seasons 1958-59 & 1959-60.

The winners of the tie will face Step 4 side Wisbech Town away in the next round.
