Ely City U18s produced a dominant performance at the Demcom on Thursday night, as they swept aside Spalding United U18s 5-1.
The hosts set the tone early, taking the lead inside the opening two minutes and never looked back. Ely controlled the first half, doubling their advantage on the half-hour mark through some impressive football through the lines, eventually finished with a well taken strike across the visitors keeper.
Ely went into the break 2-0 up and continued to dictate proceedings after half time. Despite Spalding pulling a goal back to make it 3-1, the result was never in doubt as the home side bit back instantly. They finished strongly, adding two more goals in the final 20 minutes to seal a comfortable and deserved victory.
Standout performance from Oli Searle, who was excellent throughout and deservedly picked up Player of the Match.
