Two first half goals by Luke Mansfield and Tom Thulborn set their side on their way to a comfortable win with captain Joe Brannan and another by Luke Mansfield sealing victory in the second half
In the first 15 minutes both sides contributed to an open game and both had chances to take the lead. In the 17th minute Ely broke the deadlook when a Tom Thulborn through ball sent the pacey Luke Mansfield away and he made no mistake when one on one with the keeper . It was 2-0 four minutes later when a quality Joe Brannan cross field free kick found Rhys Mazey on the left and his cross into the box found Tom Thulborn arriving right on cue to fire home.
Ely seemed well organised and disciplined against a very useful St.Neots side and created more good chances during the half without taking them.
The second half saw St.Neots getting in good positions without having that killer touch and as the game went on that next goal was so important for both sides. In came in the way of Ely as a Lewis Hook corner was swung in and a flick on at the near post found Joe Brannan at the far post and his stooping header found the back of the net.
With ten minutes to go Luke Mansfield claimed his second with a cleverly taken free kick by George Raynor and that wrapped everything up. Ely still had to defend well to keep a clean sheet as The Saints never gave up until the final whistle.
Overall a good solid performance and a good way to take a winning performance into the FA Youth Cup game away at Dereham Town next Thursday
