A comfortable 5-0 victory against a young Needham Market Reserve side sees us progress through to the quarter final of the 1st division knock out cup where we will face Stowmarket at home on January 23rd 2016.

The damage was done in the first 20 minutes of the game where Matty Simpson got two on his return to the side following injury and Sam Goodge kept up his good form in front of goal by getting the third to give us a 3-0 lead. Harry Reynolds made a great save at the end of the half to keep the lead to three at half time.

Alex Theobald extended the lead to 4-0 just before the hour mark and Matty Simpson completed his hat trick in the closing stages with the goal of the game running from the half way line and scoring from 25 yards out with a left footed strike.

Following the result manager Brady Stone gave the following comments:
“At the start of the season we said it’s a cup that we want to win. There are some good teams left in it. Halstead have been drawn against Great Yarmouth and Wivenhoe are also still in there, but we’ve seen in this league already that most teams can beat anyone in this league. We think we can beat anyone in this league as well. Me and Martin (Grey, assistant manager) have both won it as players, and we’d like to win it again as managers. We’re at home to Stowmarket next and they are a good team. We saw that when they beat us 4-1 earlier in the season. They’ve had some funny results this season, but we will see it as a chance to get into the semi-finals and all the boys will be up for it.”
