Ely came through this quarter final tie against higher league opposition Histon playing 50 minutes with 10 men.

A number of changes were made to the starting line up from Saturdays victory to keep the squad fresh. Ashley Shipp opened his Ely goalscoring account by putting the Robins in front after 15 minutes. With Ely in control the game changed quite quickly when a dubious penalty was given to Histon and converted and then shortly after Ash Walter was sent off for picking up two yellow cards in the space of as many minutes.

The second half was played with 10 v 11 but Histon could not make their extra man count and Ely went back in front through Ashley Shipps second goal of the game. Ely's defence stood firm until the 89th minute when Histon were awarded another penalty but this time the bar hit the bar and rebounded to safety.

Ely now move into the semi finals of the Cambs Invitation Cup.
