It was not pretty but Ely were victorious against Diss Town to make it back to back home wins in the league.
In team news Craig Galbraith returned in goal and Josh Sewell also returned to the starting line up. Ash Walter was starting his 3 game suspension so James Seymour moved in to Central midfield.
For much of the game it was very start stop as the man in the middle came under question from both teams for the decisions made and the continuous stopping of the game. Of the two sides Ely were looking more dangerous from open play while Diss threatened through set pieces. With half hour played Ely took the lead when persistence in the area from James Seymour lead to him being through on goal and able to place the ball past the advancing goalkeeper.
Second half and Ely conceded after only 5 minutes from a long throw in. Both teams were now looking to win the game and Ely were starting to play some nice football at times. Jack Saunders went close to scoring but eventually assisted Alex Theobald to score what turned out to be the winning goal. A cross from the left was excellently converted at the back post.
Ely managed to hold out as Diss pushed for an equaliser to claim all 3 points.
