Ely made 4 changes to the team with griffin Alsop Simpson Jeffrey out littlefair hook Goodge and brannan come in with brannan making his 1st league start at 16. In front of a bumper crowd which made it a fantastic atmosphere both teams started bright but 1st goal came from a free kick which Reynolds couldn't hold in a bundle of players and was tapped in From 5 yards. This kick started Ely and they up their tempo.

Ely 1st goal came from the goal keeper trying to roll the ball out but missed played and fell straight to Goodge who finshed from 25 yards, 1 became 2 very quickly great pressure from Neal and Seymour which Seymour came out with ball squared to Theobald who played a smart dummy and Goodge came in and put it in top corner from the edge of the box, game was very even up till half time with both goal keepers making good saves, ht 2-1

Second half Ely started bright. A great ball from Goodge which Theobald rounded the keeper but great defending stopped the goal with a goal line clearance. However it Soon became 3-1 when a shot was dropped by the keeper, Seymour picked up in box rounded a defender pulled it back to Theobald who finshed from 10 yards. From kick off Ely pressed again and soon mate it 4-1 when hook nicked the ball and gave it to Seymour who slid in Neal who calmly slotted it past the halstead keeper, 2 mins later Ely was flying high and made it 5-1 when Alex Theobald shot was saved but went straight up and Neal was there to head home to make it 3 goals in 12 2nd half mins, halstead did not give up they went straight down the other end and there 9 has a 1 on 1 which Reynolds pulled of the save of the game from 6 yards out. Ely still had chances at the end when the keeper saved well from janes Seymour, then 17 year old substitute Matt ashman came on the make his debut and nearly scored but the halstead keeper made another good save down low, great performance from Ely in dreadful conditions and missing 4 key players. it's now 15 goals in 3 games and move up to 2nd
