A game in which we could and probably should have got something out of on Tuesday ended with a pointless trip to our local rivals on Tuesday evening.
Manager Brady Stone was forced into a couple of changes from the starting eleven from Saturday with Ryan Williams out injured and Lewis Hook not available. Sam Reed started in a front free with 17 year old Tom Thulborn and Alex Theobald. Ollie Brookes came in for his first appearance of the season with Josh Sewell moving into midfield . Nick Heap dropped down to the bench.
The Robins started the more composed of the sides, but is was the home side who took the lead in the 20th minute when a far post corner was met by Euan Key who headed home. Ash Walter had a great chance to level , but headed over although Histon's advantage only lasted eleven minutes when Sam Reed pounced on a mistake at the back and slotted home the equaliser .
The Stutes were back in front when a poor kick from Harry Reynolds ended up with Ed Rolph being put through to slot home the home sides second of the game . Sam Reed showed his experience when he bagged his brace by reacting the fastest to the ball as it pinged around the box and he ensured that the teams where level at half time
Chances feel to both sides after the interval, but neither were able to fully take advantage.
Unfortunately for the Robins captain Jamie Alsop was carried off with a nasty looking injury and things got worse for The Robins after a run and cross from Histon's Tommy Wright found Lee Smith who powered his effort in off the bar to make it 3-2
Two late chances fell to Ash Walter especially the second when all he had to do was place into the net from six yards out, but decided to blast it and the ball went wide.
A disappointing start to the league campaign away from home and with captain Jamie Alsop out for a minimum of six weeks the side look to Saturdays game v FC Clacton to gain their first win of the season
