The Robins deservedly took all three points on offer at The Hawthorns on Saturday with some encouraging moments and good game management to record their second away win of the season and clock up another clean sheet
Harry Reynolds returned between the sticks with Dom Hunt and Alex Brown retaining the full back slots due to the injured captain Jamie Alsop and Daniel Jeffrey still out
Josh Sewell pulled out due to a swollen ankle which meant long serving Robins player Sam Goodge started his first game after a lengthy injury problem.
On a hard, bobble pitch on a hot August afternoon it was important to start well and the away side seemed to have the early stages in terms of possession .Liam Griffin was pivotal to this and his deeper role ensured he was able to influence proceedings. For all of the possession it was only a long range effort from Lewis Hook that looked like forcing any save from either keepers .Sam Goodge had a very impressive first full 45 minutes alongside captain Ash Walter.
With both sides going into the break level it was important that The Robins started the second half as well as the first. This was the case when in the 48th minute striker Alex Theobald reacted the quickest to fire home past the stranded Rovers keeper .
The home side reacted by making a couple of changes and with some fresher and more mobile opposition they started to maintain a little bit of pressure without forcing a save out of Harry Reynolds in goal. Dom Hunt reacted the quickest to make an important block, but in the process pulled his groin. Tom Williams and Ollie Brookes stood firm at the back and when at the other end a chance fell to Ash Walter two yards out to increase his sides lead every Robins fan in the ground thought they would go 2-0 up . The captain unfortunately could only tamely pass the ball back into the hands of the relived home keeper and the chance had gone.
At the other end Harry Reynolds made an important save to keep his side ahead and Ash Walter almost redeemed himself by forcing the home keeper to tip his long range effort behind for a corner
The Robins finished the game in control and managed the latter stages well to pick up another valuable three points
