The home side started the first 20 mins really well and put the Robins under pressure ,but the away side defended well and then started to get a grip on the game and passed the ball for prolong periods.
Their keeper made two great saves from Tom Williams and Alex Theobald while Matty Simpson missed a great chance from 4 yards out. Just before the break Harry Reynolds made a great save from a long range effort. Nick Heaps also got in couple times, but he was denied any opportunity.
The 2nd half started with the away side on front foot , but the home side struck first with their first effort of the half Ollie Brookes turned the ball into his own net although the shot might have been going in. Unlike the Godmanchester Rovers game the response was good and Ely really put the pressure on . The sides were level when an Alex Brown free kick was flicked on by Heaps and Tom Williams headed home.
The Robins went looking for the winner, but never looked like scoring while the home side looked dangerous on the on the counter attack. The best chance towards the end fell to Ollie Brookes from an Ash Walter free kick , but he missed a free header from about 3 yards out and it looked harder to miss than score.
With the game ending all square it seemed a fair reflection on the afternoons proceedings ,
Next up for The Robins is a home game on Saturday v Gorleston
