Well its back folks, real footie and the robins had a long away trip to the Gorleston for their first league match match.

The Greens ground, emerald park, is well very green in colour and very compact.

The Robins sporting their new dark red strip entered the arena hoping to erase the memory of their last visit here at the end of last season.

The Greens seemed to me to be a very quick team and good passers of the ball. The Robins were minus some players inc Andrew Claydon, Darren Coe, Ian Walters and David Smith to name a few, with Lewis Chambers, James Seymour and Luke Fretwell on the bench.

Gorleston went 1 up with a good low shot followed by another goal before half time.

Ely lost Adam Murray to injury and Alan Alsop subbed new signing Ryan Jenner and the young pairing of Lewis Chambers and James Seymour came on.

The Greens 3rd goal was a bit lucky as a foul should have been given before they scored a typical breakaway goal. This seemed to spur the Robins on and they became the dominant team with Richard Chadwick scoring a nice lobbed goal, Ely were by now the better team and pressed hard for a result and had some good chances near the end, but sadly it wasn't to be.

The Greens deserved the win but our 2nd half performance was good. Well done to Lewis and James, both played well.
