A very warm evening in Norfolk produced an entertaining game on a well kept Mundford pitch. Ressies had a lively start with some nice combination play, the first goal coming from such a move with Jeffrey finishing from just inside the box, palmed on it's way into the net by the home 'keeper. The hosts levelled the game after getting to the rebound first from a great Jeckells' save and tucking it home. Jeffrey doubled his tally from the penalty spot to make the score 2-1 after Rathjen was taken down just inside the box. The first half finished with a goal lead to the Ressies after a solid defensive display, bar not getting to the rebound first, and patches of quality combination play.

Mundford started the second half on the front foot and capitalised on poor defending to level the score. Ressies took the lead for the 3rd time after Hunt headed home a pin-point Jeffrey free kick. However, the home side were allowed back into the game again from indecision in the Ely defence, levelling the score at 3-3. Ressies looked to get back ahead, though did so in the wrong way by overplaying and ended up ceding possession. A big penalty shout for Murfet was turned down and the home side nearly scored from the resulting counter attack. Eventually, the home side did manage to score on the counter taking the lead for the first time in the game.

The full-time whistle went resulting in a 4-3 win for Mundford. A very solid first half performance, followed by a disjointed second half performance, all in all a lot to be learnt from the fixture despite the disappointing result. We wish Mundford all the best for their season. Next up the Ressies take on Kings Lynn Reserves at home on Tuesday 30th July, 7.45 KO.
